Hornbach No. 100 located in Prague

The 100th DIY store, which was built in the Repy district of Prague in the space of six months, has a weighted retail area of 11 540 m². The group’s second DIY and garden store in the Czech metropolis represents an investment of 23.5 mio euro and is Baumarkt AG’s third-largest outlet in the Czech Republic.

Not only the distinction of being the hundredth outlet makes the Repy store special. What strikes the visitor on a tour through the bright, generously designed store that is typically divided up into a building materials section, DIY store and garden centre, is the great number of merchandising displays that provide customers with an initial source of information and assistance. Over and above this, there is a staff of 135 ready with advice and assistance to answer any further questions and provide services or project details. The company has gone for a big sales team in response to the great desire for advice expressed by their Czech customers, who are extremely active when it comes to DIY projects.

Here Hornbach has been guided by local practices and traditions, as in all its branches outside Germany, so that in addition to well-known brands, products from Czech manufacturers in particular are available. The range also includes products that meet local requirements such as cast iron heating stoves complete with the necessary pipes, as well as wood-burning kitchen ranges. What is at times a completely different taste and style is evident where wickerwork articles and lamps are concerned as well. Czech customers can also choose from a range of several complete kitchens.
Yet another special feature is offered by the garden centre, 4 800 m² in size and with an outdoor area of 1 171 m². In contrast to the group’s other combined DIY and gardens stores, the pet department here offers not only aquarium products, but also small animals including rodents and birds of all sizes and hues. Pet departments that have been expanded by the addition of live animals can also be found in the other three Hornbach stores in the Czech Republic.

This new opening has increased the combined retail area of the four Hornbach DIY stores in the Czech Republic to 45 486 m². And expansion is to continue: five new locations are at the planning stage.
