Hornbach’s first DIY store in Sweden is also the company’s biggest anywhere.
The differences at this new store, in which a sum of 18 mio euros has been invested, meet the eye immediately from outside. The dominant colour of the external walls is now a bright orange, with the traditional magenta now appearing only in passing. There is only one wide main entrance, and the low central structure is flanked on the left by the garden centre of around 4 400 m², complete with cold greenhouse. The right flank is formed by the construction section, dominated by the orange and white painted building materials shed with its drive-in entrance.
The building materials shed is generously proportioned at 5.000 m².
Lorries can also drive into the “ByggCentrum” through two big roller doors. Here there are cars and lorries parked at the racking instead of shopping trolleys. Customers can drive past each other comfortably in the shed, which covers an area of nearly 5 000 m², and do not get in each other’s way whilst loading either. Adjoining the shed outside is a yard that occupies more than 1 100 m² where building materials for the garden and bulk materials are stocked.
Situated between the building materials shed and the garden centre is the newly created living and design area. Swedish requirements were taken into consideration when putting together the range of products. For example, there is little demand for carpeting, but for linoleum, laminate and parquet instead. Another main category in the decorating area is wallpaper, which is presented in low beechwood boxes complete with examples of usage.
