New tools show in London
A new dedicated tools show is to be held in London next year for the first time alongside the DIY & Garden Show from 16 to 18 January 2005. The organisers hope that it will add value to the show, which has been taking place for ten years now. As fair director Christopher Leonard-Morgan explains the decision, “The specialist hand and power tool companies want their own show.” The new Totally Tools segment is intended to provide a platform not only for DIY equipment but also for tools for professional and industrial uses.
Premiere in Shanghai
The inaugural Gifts & Home Products and DIY & Home Improvement shows, held in Shanghai from 20 to 22 April under the auspices of the China Sourcing Fair, attracted 20 240 visitors. According to information from the organisers, 95 per cent of the stands have already been pre-booked for the autumn dates of these two fairs from 25 to 27 October.
Cancellation of Lightstyle
Lightstyle, the lighting fair, will not take place next year. However, it is planned to stage the show again in 2007. Lightstyle was established in 2001 as a show complementary to Light + Building, which is held every two years. Following the launch in 2001 with around 300 exhibitors, however, the 2003 event had to cope with a drop of 50 per cent to just 150 exhibitors.
Visitor increase in Frankfurt
Light + Building, the trade fair held from 18 to 22 April, recorded visitor figures up by six per cent for the categories of lighting, electrotechnology and building automation. Visitor attendance totalled 116 000, including over 28 per cent from abroad.
Trade fair in Brazil
Bricolage, the trade fair located in São Paulo, Brazil, will take place from 4 to 7 October 2004. About 400 exhibitors participated in the previous event, which was staged in July 2003 under the name of Bricolage & Expoferragista. The BBT congress – Brasil Brico Trends – will be held for the fourth time and in parallel to the trade fair.
Expansion for China Sourcing Fair
The China Sourcing Fair, which has so far been held in Shanghai, will also be opening for business in Hong Kong from 2006 on. Twice each year, in April and October, the fair will be staged by Global Sources at Asia World Expo, which is located close to the airport. Until now the China Sourcing Fair has been held twice a year in Shanghai, where it presents electronic goods together with DIY products and giftware.
