Ronseal was founded 70 years ago in the United Kingdom and has since 1997 been part of the USA-based Sherwin Williams Group, which is one of the largest coatings manufacturers in the world, with a workforce of 29 000 and an annual turnover in excess of US $ 7 bn. According to Ronseal's head office in Sheffield, the company is very well known in the United Kingdom: market research shows that 90 per cent of consumers are familiar with the company and its products. Other brands include Colron (furniture care), Thompson's (waterproofing and cleaning) and Isofex (waterproofing). The company exports to more than 20 countries, including most of the countries in the euro area and as far away as South Korea and Australia. The broad programme of products available from Ronseal is proof of the company's goal of meeting all requirements for the protection and care of wood both inside and outside the home. It includes varnishes, oils and stains, as well as special ranges for decking, garden furniture, sheds and fencing. Most of the products are water-based. The company also manufactures products for waterproofing house walls, roofs, verandas, paths and driveways, as well as special paints for decorating many different surfaces such as metal, ceramic tiles and radiators. The company regards it as a challenge to continuously develop further innovative products, such as the recently launched Perfect Finish range, and the Ronseal Power Sprayer.Perfect Finish products are to be seen as a complete solution for woodcare projects, with each pack consisting of a coating and an innovative applicator pad. They are suitable both for DIY beginners with little experience, and for people with no time to spare who want to get the job done as quickly as possible. According to the manufacturer, the new cordless Power Sprayer allows the user to paint wooden structures and fencing six times faster than with a brush. Ronseal supports DIY retailers with a full range of materials. These include brochures and leaflets showing the possible applications and benefits of the products, along with colour cards and shelf strips for promotional areas.
