For all those involved in the world of construction, Batimat 2009 is an opportunity to discover new technical solutions from right across the globe that will be specified in the sustainable construction and renovation projects of tomorrow. The 27th Batimat that is due to open its doors from 2 – 7 November in the Porte de Versailles Exposition Centre in Paris will be very much in the tradition of past shows. The exhibition offers a varied range of products, even if certain countries such as Spain, which have been severely affected by the economic crisis, will have a reduced presence this year. As a multi-specialist show- case for innovations and trends in construction, it will be organized in seven sections: • ‘Structure’ accounts for 21 per cent of the total number of exhibitors. Visitors to this space will find the products and equipment required for construction and renovation, from the foundations to the roof, and not forgetting products for insulation, damp-proofing, drainage and water treatment. • ‘Joinery & Fenestration’ is dedicated to aluminium, PVC, steel, wood and glass. This section accounts for 22 per cent of the exhibitors and features doors, windows and closure devices of all kinds together with their components. It occupies a central position in relation to the energy-efficiency objectives of the show. • ‘Equipment & Tools’ focuses on the tools companies and manufacturers need to work with and represents 22 per cent of exhibitors. It spans site machinery and equipment, utility vehicles, safety equipment, workshop and site tools. • ‘Finishing & Decoration’ houses 27 per cent of the exhibitors and, having been given a new visual identity and a fresh design, features all the products used for fitting out and finishing buildings inside and out: floor and wall coverings and accessories, interior fittings, architectural and functional lighting. The full range of products for outdoor facilities (swimming pools, equipment etc.) rounds off the display. • ‘Sustainable Building Management’ requires specific answers to demands for saving energy, safety and security measures, accessibility and comfort as well. With a new remit extending its scope beyond integrated systems, this space brings together sustainable development and a presentation of the major environmental issues. • In the ‘Services’ section visitors will discover the full range of services designed for building professionals: banking, insurance, recruitment, training…
