When Iberflora, the plant and garden trade fair, opens its doors on 3 October for the 41st time in Valencia, Spain, the focus will not only be on the green market. That is because, as in the past, the seventh edition of Eurobrico, a DIY fair, will again be staged at the same time; two years ago it was shifted to November. Eurobrico is held every two years; the fair company Feria Valencia organises the Eurobrico Meeting Point as a B2B rendezvous for the industry in odd years. This year there will be a garden hall for the first time as a result of this cooperation. This underlines the significance of the garden-plus-DIY segment, which is becoming increasingly evident in Spain as elsewhere. Iberflora with its “Green Vitamin” slogan and Eurobrico with its “Home & Garden Improvement” motto are both reacting to the retail trend: DIY products are becoming more and more important in nurseries and garden centres while, conversely, plants and gardening products make up a large part of the product offer in DIY stores. According to information from the organisers, 90 per cent of the players in the DIY market are represented at the show. What is more, the aim for 2012 is to attract more visitors from channels of distribution like garden centres, décor stores and builders’ merchants. Internationalisation is also to be promoted still more strongly. In this respect Eurobrico is working in collaboration with the European DIY Retail Association, EDRA. Trade delegations have been organised from 13 countries on the Iberflora side again. Download: One
