Pro-Charger is a Taiwanese company that has been actively involved in the home improvement market for almost 30 years now. As a specialist producer of painting products it offers more than 3 000 different paint rollers, brushes and extension poles in its range. Within this market the company, which is based in the capital Taipei, aims to set itself apart from the competition by offering product lines that highlight the aspect of environmental compatibility, as well as representing an economical solution. Pro-Charger names the superior wool roller cover as a good example of this product policy. It claims that it will coat up to 10 000 m² and last ten times longer than other models. The company also stresses that wool covers offer other advantages when it comes to using them: they absorb more paint and apply it in greater density. Production is carried out exclusively in China, where more than 300 employees work in three factories in Guangzhou, Shanghai and Wuxi. The group does indeed have production facilities in Taiwan itself, but these turn out completely different products in the medical and cosmetics sectors. For the home improvement range Pro-Charger maintains a special research and development department, in which it invests around USD 100 000 annually. There is also a special team available for the purpose of quality control. Newly launched developments include a patented frame used for fastening roller covers securely and a patented, lightweight e-roller. According to the manufacturer, this saves 70 per cent of user exertion and allows for easy and smooth paint application. The design is specially geared towards women users. Pro-Charger’s products are exported to some 60 countries. The most important of these markets are the USA, Canada and Australia, where 80 per cent of the dealers in the DIY sector work together with the supplier. However, deliveries also go to big DIY chains in Europe, including the UK. As president Sander Lye reports, “We work in partnership with many long-standing customers.” The company’s products are available either in the OEM segment or under private labels like Panclub or Provalue, which are sold through Home Depot in the USA, for example, or Canadian Tire in Canada.
