The Belgian Briko Dépôt chain has opened the first store designed in accordance with its newly developed concept in Fontaine L’Evêque. Here the directors Guy Marc Beaude and Jordi Juanos are going for a mega-depot format, where building materials and the decorating area have a bigger role to play, as they explain in the coming issue of the specialist magazine DIY in Europe. The range of tiles is also to be expanded. The new concept emphasises a broadening of the group’s customer base to include more DIYers in particular, after having so far been positioned in the professional customer segment. At 20 per cent Briko Dépôt has the highest proportion of professional customers in Belgium.
