Total sales for the industry over last weekend are estimated at € 1.4 bn

Focus Wickes recorded sales in March up by 24 % on the same period last year. The company attributes this increase to the unseasonably fine weather. The DIY chain estimates that total sales over the Easter weekend could top £ 400 mio (€ 575 mio). A forecast provided by cebr, an economic research organisation, suggests that total DIY and garden centre sales in the United Kingdom over this weekend amounted to approx. £ 1 billion (€ 1.4 bn). This would indicate an average spend of £ 40 (€ 58) for every household in the country on DIY and garden products. The Easter weekend is regarded as a key trading period for the DIY industry.
