Two thirds of the manufacturers in the DIY industry have experienced a good first quarter

The majority of the US and Canadian manufacturers who are members of the Worldwide DIY Council are looking forward to the future with optimism. At the end of the first quarter, 67 per cent of the 40 members who responded to a Council survey indicated that their business was up on the previous year’s results. Almost three quarters of them (72 per cent) expect theirs will be up by the end of the year. The companies name Britain, Mexico and Canada, followed by Australia, Central America and the Caribbean region, as their primary sales markets. They name the markets in Germany and Mexico, along with Canada, as specific key targets that they increasingly intend to concentrate on. Anti-American feelings in export markets were noted by only two companies, both in France.
