According to a survey undertaken by the management consultants Markant, Baumax achieves the highest prompted degree of customer awareness of DIY superstores in Austria at a figure of 94 per cent. This is followed by the German multiple Obi at 88 per cent and Bauhaus at 87 per cent. There is a German company at the bottom of the league table as well: the Baufreund stores operated by Hellweg were named by just 20 per cent of respondents. The survey also reveals that Baumax is the group that Austrians like best. It must be added, though, that research by AC Nielsen has shown that there are considerable differences within the catchment areas of certain stores.
Further details can be obtained from the reports mentioned below. The full current survey results on customer awareness of Austrian DIY stores can be found on our site, DIYglobal plus, under Market data (v. also Other articles on this topic).
