Domaxel has announced that Leroy Merlin has acquired a 50 per cent stake in the French cooperative, which includes the Weldom DIY retail chain with its 322 outlets and a retail profile ranging from 400 m² to 4 000 m². Leroy Merlin, which has meanwhile ousted Castorama from the top slot in France, intends to hold on to the Weldom store concept, particularly since the company has itself already begun to establish neighbourhood-style outlets of a middling size. The Domaxel central office will retain its sphere of responsibility; use is to be made of synergies in the field of buying above all.
