After a summer that was poor, i.e. too hot, the DIY stores in France caught up again in September. The Fédération des Magasins de Bricolage (FMB) trade association has disclosed that sales for this month were up by four per cent over comparable figures for 2002. Statistics for the summer month of August record a downright slump, with sales in the sector down by 8.2 per cent on the previous year’s results. French DIY retailers ended July with a deficit of 0.6 per cent.
