An increase of 15 per cent is on the cards for the current year

Lowe’s had 932 stores in operation on the cut-off date of 31 October 2003, following 38 new openings in the recently completed third quarter. Total store space now adds up to approximately 9.6 mio m². A further 47 new outlets are to follow by the end of the financial year on 30 January 2004. Whereas the total store space is expected to grow by around 15 per cent over the complete 2003/2004 financial year, the company’s projection has sales growth fluctuating around 18 per cent and between six and seven per cent in like-for-like terms.
