The Austrian supplier Adler buys insolvent competitor Frenkel

Adler, the paint manufacturer based at Schwaz, Austria, has taken over Frenkel, the Austrian supplier of wood paint with all rights to its trademarks, including the Grillith brand of wood putty. Frenkel’s standard products are to be produced and marketed in future through the Schwaz works. “We expect additional sales of approximately € four mio from an output volume of around 800 tons per annum in the medium term,” said Günther Berghofer, Adler’s senior chief.
This company, which claims to be the leading Austrian manufacturer of paint, varnish and wood preservatives, increased sales last year by 2.4 per cent to € 58.9 mio. The proportion going for export has climbed to 36.5 per cent through the growth of foreign business. The volume produced was around 14 000 tons. About 64 per cent of the products manufactured are water-based.
