The Germans have the biggest budget for spending on DIY within Europe, followed by the British and the French. This is revealed in a study published by Cetelem, the French finance group

However, the propensity to spend is declining in almost all the countries investigated. The only exception here, though a low-level one, is Italy. The British are shown to be still the most enthusiastic about DIY, despite a dampening down. Almost half of those questioned declared that they want to buy DIY products in 2004.
