The propensity to spend in the DIY area is in decline throughout Europe

The inclination to make purchases in the area of DIY still continues to be most pronounced in the United Kingdom. Although the Germans record the highest spend on DIY per household in absolute figures, they only manage third place when it comes to a European comparison of the propensity to purchase. This is revealed by research undertaken by Cetelem, the French finance group. The figures are in decline throughout Europe.
Detailed information from this Cetelem study can be found under the Trade topics heading at DIYglobal plus (v. Other articles on this topic).
