The International Hardware Fair/Practical World draws to a close with an increase of around ten per cent

Today sees the International Hardware Fair/Practical World come to an end in Cologne with attendance figures up by ten per cent to over 74 000 trade visitors from 104 countries. These figures were announced by the fair organisers shortly before the event came to an end. “The clear increase in visitor figures of approximately ten per cent over last year’s result shows that we are on the right track,” in the words of Oliver P. Kuhrt, executive vice president of Koelnmesse. He considers that the new fair concept is working out as intended. And Dr Michael Lucke, chairman of the fair advisory committee, emphasised that, “The launch of the two-yearly cycle has been a success – the fair has effectively confirmed its status as the world’s leading show for the hardware and DIY sectors.”
A total of 3 677 companies from 59 countries exhibited in Cologne. According to an assessment made by the organisers, the international exhibitors were especially satisfied with the results of the fair. They presented more than three-quarters of the entire product offer.
