The French manufacturers’ association UNIBAL (Union nationale des industries du bricolage, du jardinage et des activités de loisirs) puts a figure of 5.4 per cent on the sales growth achieved by the large-format DIY retail sector in France. An increase of 3.6 per cent is the result at constant prices. The DIY stores notched up average sales of € 2 496 per m² in 2003, which means this key figure was 2.5 per cent higher than the previous year’s result.
