Visitor traffic on first day of show prompts expectations of higher figures
The organizers believe in their concept and the new show venue – and the figures seem to back them up. The number of exhibitors and the net exhibition floorspace have increased in size for the first time since 1999, with a total of 2,303 companies represented in Las Vegas, occupying an area of 45,000 m2.
The “Lawn and Garden World” sector occupies more than 18,000 m2, constituting the largest exhibition section. Suppliers from China, Taiwan, Hong Kong and other Asian nations are once again taking up a considerable area, with their own exhibition hall. Pavilions from Germany and the UK among others feature alongside these.
The visitor traffic on the first day of the show suggests that the event will be a success in this regard too, as a cosmopolitan mix of attendees thronged the halls.
Since the exhibition area has been utilized to the full this year, the organizer, Reed Exhibition, has announced its intention of relocating part of the show next year to the Las Vegas Convention Centre close by (DIYglobal reported). The Gourmet Products Show, a household products fair previously staged in San Francisco, will be taking place there on the same dates (17 to 19 May 2005).
