Obi is going for international growth – and with local partners, as chairman of the board Sergio Giroldi declared in an interview with diy Branchenmagazin

Obi is aiming for intensified growth beyond the home market in Germany. This fact was confirmed by Sergio Giroldi, who has been acting chairman of the board for the past year, in an interview with the specialist trade magazine, diy Branchenmagazin. The company is planning to double the share of turnover achieved abroad to 60 per cent over the next four years. “We intend to realise this admittedly ambitious goal in China and Russia above all, but we are also taking a good look at other countries,” said Giroldi. Obi deliberately works together with local partners, even though the company could well finance the international expansion alone. It is intended to promote internationalisation on the purchasing side as well. Though it must be said that the company relies heavily on manufacturers of branded goods from Germany for the international market, so that it can offer customers a better quality of product
