German customers looking for information about paint in DIY stores mainly go to the sales staff for advice. The picture is completely different in the United Kingdom

German customers mainly rely on the sales personnel when looking for information about paint in DIY stores. According to a study published by the Frankfurt PQI (Paint Quality Institute), 65 per cent of respondents, or 9 per cent more than in the first survey undertaken in 2000, said that the store’s specialist assistants were their primary source of information. Colour charts take second place with a 54 per cent rating. The picture is completely different in the United Kingdom, where 80 per cent of respondents use colour charts as their primary source of information and as few as 13 per cent have faith in the expertise of the sales assistants.
