Sun protection from Australia

28.12.2005

Gale Pacific, a company that claims to be the market leader for sun protection leisure products in Australia, is now offering its broad range in Europe as well

The programme going by the brand name of Coolaroo comprises products that include awnings, gazebos, shade sails for outdoor use and conservatories, external window shades made from knitted fabric, as well as screening for the balcony or garden.
Sun sails are available in vivid colours.
The aim of the ISO 9002-certified company is to provide shade systems that combine innovative product applications with trend-setting design. It maintains that the HDPE knitted fabric, Duralon, can block up to 90 per cent of the sun’s UV rays and significantly reduce the temperature in the shaded area. Neoplas is a newly introduced, waterproof polypropylene fabric that contains Kevlar and is characterised by great dimensional stability. Under development at the moment are outdoor fabrics that are being designed to eliminate the weak features of conventional coated polyester materials.
The products are distributed in Europe through large-format outlets such as DIY stores or hypermarkets. There is a variety of supply structures available to customers, including the possibility of direct imports or local distribution from a central warehouse in the relevant country.
The company expects to profile itself in-store most specially through eye-catching and easily identifiable packaging. Appropriate positioning allows for the setting up of a separate themed area for sun, sight and weather protection products within the store. The product merchandiser is designed to underline this concept, with its special POS side and header cards.
Gale’s programme includes screening for the balcony or garden.
New for superstores is the window shades ordering shop, where classic awnings both with or without full cassette are available in standard sizes and many in-between sizes as well. A structural module, used in combination with standard prefabricated components, covers nearly all sizes that are included in the made-to-measure selection. This combination system has been developed to make the products considerably more attractive in terms of price and ensure that customers’ orders are delivered promptly.
The European sales company has its headquarters at Neunkirchen, Germany, where the selling agency, product management, the marketing department for Europe and a distribution centre for Germany and neighbouring countries are located. Also to be found there is the sister company, Jung Garten und Freizeit, another wholly-owned subsidiary of Gale Pacific.
There are, in addition, sales bases for the French-speaking region, the Benelux states and southern Europe, as well as a number of other distributors in several European states.
Gale offers interesting POS solutions.
Distribution for the whole of Europe is organised from the Neunkirchen location. What is more, Gale Europe also functions as the sales office and agent for the group’s latest production plant in Ningbo, China. The group owns further production plants in Australia, New Zealand and the USA.
For the future, Gale plans to open up further new markets such as southern and south-east Europe, the Baltic states and Belarus. The company’s declared goal is to occupy a leading position in the sun protection sector.
