Swiss DIY retailer reacts to price differentials in the euro-zone with massive price reductions

Swiss DIY retailers are now reacting to the high prices in their country caused by the strength of the Swiss frank. Recently increasing numbers of Swiss residents, especially those in areas close to the frontier, are doing their shopping on the other side of the border in the euro-zone, where the prices are considerably lower. This is causing a lot of hardship, and the retail sales figures in Switzerland are suffering as well. Consequently Coop Switzerland is cutting the price of some 900 products in its Bau+Hobby stores by around nine per cent. The company expects that the price of even more products will be cut in the near future, since negotiations with its suppliers have not yet been concluded.
