Lawns account for around half of Europe’s garden areas

Lawns account for nearly half of Europe’s garden areas, on average at any rate, according to the European Home Improvement Monitor from USP Marketing Consultancy. In consequence, 70 per cent of garden owners possess a lawnmower. Roughly ten per cent of these are ride-on mowers, which enjoy greatest popularity among German and Scandinavian garden enthusiasts.
The average size of a European garden is 333 m², with the largest gardens to be found in Scandinavia and France (500 m² on average) and the smallest (123 m²) in the Netherlands.
