Hornbach closes last but one Compact store

The German Hornbach group is closing its Compact store in Neunkirchen at the end of August. The Hornbach Compact was opened as second location in the new small store concept in June 2015. A third location was already closed by the company in May 2018.
The company explains the step with the fact that while Hornbach is satisfied with the economic development of the pilot store in Bad Bergzabern, sales and profit in Neunkirchen remain significantly below expectations, despite many further developments, a store extension in the garden sector and an optimisation of the purchasing process. According to the company, the decision does not affect the Bad Bergzabern concept nor the location.
