The German garden market hardly grew in the year 2019. The overall market volume rose by 0.1 per cent to EUR 18.655 bn. These figures were reported by the market researcher Klaus Peter Teipel. At the same time, the DIY stores performed significantly better, as they increased their sales by 3.7 per cent. According to these currently still projected figures, the specialist garden centres have risen by 2.1 per cent. Teipel expects a growth of around 0.6 per cent for the year 2020. "The garden market is very stable," is how he describes the long-term development. Overall, Teipel sees a trend towards more value, quality and sustainability in consumers' demand behaviour.
