“With as many as 4 000 stands, the two fairs will be the biggest gifts, home pro-ducts, hardware and DIY event under one roof in Hong Kong,” said Global Sources Chairman and CEO Merle A. Hinrichs at the signing of the strategic alliance in April 2005. Jochen Witt, head of Koelnmesse, calls the fair a “world-class event” and adds, “It is our goal to make Hong Kong into an important centre for buyers wanting to source hardware and DIY products in Asia.”
The organisers are expecting the exhibitors at both trade fairs to fill all ten halls of the new exhibition complex, a space of approx. 70 000 m².
The new multi-trade fair will present a broad spectrum of product categories. Displayed at the China Sourcing Fair: Gifts & Home Products will be gifts and Christmas lines, stationery, health products, sporting goods, home décor, kitchen and household goods, soft furnishings, glassware and china. The exhibitors at Practical World Hong Kong will be offering hardware, gardening and horticultural products, tools and accessories, furniture fittings, DIY articles and security products. Around 50 000 visitors from all over the world are expected to attend the four-day fair duo.
Offered in parallel to the China Sourcing Fair: Gifts and Home Products will be a conference programme offering insights into the Chinese branches of the industry. Specific sourcing forums will be held within the framework of presentations on the topic of supply trends, which are based on Global Sources’ comprehensive market surveys. The future direction of the industry will be sounded out in seminars, and volume buyers will have an opportunity to meet selected suppliers as part of “Vendor Summits”.
