Fonderal of Casarile, Milan, as a medium-sized, owner-operated company, can look back on a tradition of more than 40 years in the development, manufacture and marketing of outdoor lighting. Production is carried out at five locations in the area round Milan, which together cover an area of approx. 50 000 m²; there are also marketing subsidiaries in Europe, Asia, the US and Russia. The company regards itself as an “all-rounder” in the field of outdoor lighting, where it has complete control of all the products in the aluminium/plastic die-cast series, from planning to development and production, and right on to the point of sale. The development of new light fittings involves close cooperation with well-known designers, architects and product specialists. All the company’s products and components comply with the applicable EU standards. Fonderal claims to be the first company in Europe to have made outdoor lighting of aluminium in order to reduce the risk of corrosion. And once again the company is making use of a novel material: Duralighting, a composite with glass fibre and ceramic components which has a specific weight similar to that of aluminium, and a degree of hardness and shock resistance close to that of metals. This material is resistant to salts, industrial acids and solvents, UV stabilised, non-rusting and pre-coloured, so that no surface finishing is required.
