The China International Hardware Show (CIHS) in Shanghai has been fully booked since April, according to the organisers. Nearly 2 100 exhibitors will be presenting their goods and services over a space in excess of 100 000 m² at the event from 28 - 30 September 2010. The fair is rated as Asia’s largest hardware trade show. It will provide a business platform for tools, DIY and building, hardware, security systems, locks and fittings; and for manufacturers, wholesalers, dealers and retailers as well. Last year’s show attracted 35 000 trade visitors and bookings from 2 016 exhibitors. Over the three-day period buyers will be able to source from established local Chinese manufacturers as well as a substantial number of emerging new producers. They will be joined by key foreign suppliers from Germany, Spain, Turkey, the US, Italy, Japan, the Netherlands, Ireland, India, the UK, Mexico, South Korea, Singapore, Taiwan and Hong Kong. Koelnmesse and the China National Hardware Association, organisers of the event, have observed over time that European and American exhibitors from the hardware sectors are increasingly using this show as their gateway to markets in Asia. This year the show is celebrating its tenth anniversary. The organisers expect to capitalize on the fact that a visit to the show will be made additionally attractive to many in the industry by the Shang-hai World Expo, which is due to run until 31 October 2010.
