Four themes will determine the planning and building scene in the years to come, themes that have been taken up by Bau 2013 in Munich from 14- 19 January. Many of the 2 000 exhibitors will be gearing their presentations to them and introducing their particular solutions. The sustainability of buildings will continue to define research and development in the construction industry of the future. It will be a question of the planning and implementing not only of individual sustainable buildings, but of whole urban districts, or even towns. Which is why the sustainable refurbishment and modernisation of the building stock is one of the themes at Bau. Secondly, Bau also intends to supply answers to questions about the energy management of new buildings and the proportion of renewable energy involved in such projects. “Urban development in the 21st century” will be yet another theme in Munich, since research now assumes that 75 per cent of mankind will be living in cities no later than the year 2050. Many people dream of growing old within their own four walls. Buildings are more and more often being designed to ensure that this actually works. What building to suit the generations looks like in detail and what has to be taken into account when doing so is the fourth of the themes that are being addressed in Munich. Download:
