More fasteners at CIHS Fasteners will be occupying a larger exhibition space at the China International Hardware Fair (CIHS) in 2013 than was previously the case. The number of companies that have booked a stand in this segment of the fair is already ten per cent higher than the figure for 2012; organisers Koelnmesse are expecting some 400 suppliers from the field of fasteners to be represented in 2013, an increase of 15 per cent. Also expected once more at this event in Shanghai from 26 to 28 November 2013 are groups of exhibitors from Germany, Italy and India, in addition to a strong contingent from Taiwan. Reed takes over in Mexico US fair organisers Reed Exhibitions are taking over the Mexican hardware show Expo Nacional Ferretera. The event has been held annually in Guadalajara since 1989 and is rated as the biggest hardware and building fair in the country. The latest results show a participation figure of 1 300 exhibitors on an exhibition space of 50 000 m² and an attendance figure of around 80 000 visitors from some 30 countries. For Reed, organisers of the National Hardware Show in Las Vegas, this is an important step in its strategic expansion into Mexico. At the end of 2011 the company took over Expo Seguridad, a security products fair held in Mexico City. The Mexico business is headed by Nan Walsh, executive vice president. Eduardo Casanova, her predecessor as head of Expo Ferretera, and his team will continue to work in cooperation with her. New Italian fair There is to be a new trade fair in Italy for hardware, DIY and garden. An announcement to this effect has come from the organisers, Ente Fiera Promo­berg. The new fair is to be known as Ferexpo and will be held for the first time in Bergamo, a city in the north of Italy, on 18 and 19 September 2013. It will feature an exhibition space of 7 000 m², and the organisers are expecting 200 exhibitors and 5 000 visitors to attend the event, including buyers from international companies. Fair organises company visits in Taiwan A new service being offered this year for the first time by the organisers of the Taiwan Hardware Show (THS) involves company visits to manufacturers from the hardware industry. This service is being made possible by the fair's move to Taichung, among other reasons. This is the region where the majority of hardware manufacturers are based.
