The new line, named Contour, is comparable with the best that Europe has to offer in the way of WPC decking, assured Daniel Damme, European Sales Manager. He sees good prospects for this project. “There’s a very healthy premium sector in Europe”, he said.
As with all other Trex decking, these boards from the new series differ from the competitors’ products because of their protective shell, which is made up of nine different ingredients. The shell gives a realistic graining and thus delivers a natural wood look and at the same time protects from UV rays and other stress factors.
The special shell coating offers a lot of advantages, Damme explained: compared to other non-coated products, Trex boards are colourfast, scratch-resistant, as well as stain and mould resistant. For private users, the company offers a 25-year guarantee against fading and stain damage, even if the boards are curved.
Like all Trex decking products, the Contour series, is made of 95 per cent recycled materials, including reclaimed wood, sawdust and plastic packaging. The Transcend product line is also available in Europe.
In its homeland, the USA, Trex claims the title of market leader with its market share of between 45 to 50 percent. The products are available in 42 countries, in cooperation with both the specialist trade, which accounts for the major share of sales revenue, as well as with large DIY operators. In the USA, these include such names as Home Depot and Lowe’s and in Europe, Hornbach and the Swiss Jumbo chain.
