Germany's top five DIY store operators experienced a 3.1 per cent drop in sales in 2021 compared with the boom year of 2020. Compared with 2019, the year before the coronavirus pandemic, however, they gained 7.6 per cent. The figures presented by the Dähne Verlag publishing house refer to stores in Germany and abroad.
The turnover of the top 5 in Germany alone declined by 8.4 per cent. Here, too, the comparison with 2019 is decidedly positive.
The tables below list the figures for the German Top 5 of Obi, Bauhaus, Hornbach, Hagebau and Toom. All data on international and domestic sales and store numbers for 2019, 2020 and 2021 are available.
All figures (as of 9 March 2022) are still provisional.
