OBI has announced that it plans to open both the stores scheduled for Moscow at the same time in autumn 2003. The two outlets in the north-west of the Russian capital are being erected as detached buildings, each with a retail area of 16 000 m² including a garden centre. They are situated in the immediate vicinity of Ikea outlets in Kommunarka and Khimki, and are being run as joint ventures with a Russian partner, DIY-Projekt. Construction work should be commencing imminently, according to information from the German market leader.
