The company is now employing digital technology to combat shoplifting crimes

Home Depot has begun to install a new digital surveillance system in its stores. The technology is to be employed in all outlets throughout North America and will require a total of around 40 000 video cameras. The company expects this move will have a deterrent effect, resulting in a reduction in crimes of theft and fraud, and providing useful material for both police and prosecutors. Analogue technology is currently in use.
