Country Manager Gert Scharping is to retire at the end of the year

The Luxembourg subsidiary of the German Praktiker AG will be getting a new head at the end of the year. Country Manager Gert Scharping, 59, is retiring at the end of 2004. He will be succeeded by Raimund Müller, 54, who is currently district manager with responsibility for 17 stores in the sales region West. His handover period will begin in October in preparation for the new task. Since 1998 Gert Scharping has headed the national company, which operates three stores in Luxembourg. Following his departure he will not only be available in an advisory role until the end of March, but will also have a seat on the administrative board of Bâtiself S.A. from 1 January 2005. He is taking over there from Michael Trapp, who is resigning at the end of 2004 in order to concentrate on the organisation of Praktiker’s international activities in Bulgaria.
