“Logical step into Bulgaria”

Praktiker intends to invest around € 50 mio in Bulgaria over the next three years, according to a report in the Bulgarian press. This suggests that the subsidiary of the German Metro group is planning a total of seven stores for the country. The first outlet will be inaugurated in Sofia in Spetember 2004 (as previously reported in DIYglobal), with another one to follow in Plovdiv next year. Praktiker’s chairman Michael Arnold is quoting as saying, “In our view, Bulgaria is a logical step in our international expansion, which involves many countries in this region.”
