Rautakesko on expansionary track

The group has expanded by 16 per cent in the home market in Finland

In the first quarter of 2004 Rautakesko, the building materials division of the Finnish Kesko group, increased net sales over the result for the same period last year by 36.5 per cent to € 247.3 mio. The increase in Finland amounted to 16.1 per cent on a volume of € 171.3 mio. The group now generates around 30 per cent of turnover abroad.
One new K-rauta store, situated in Sundsvall, Sweden, was added to the sales network in March. This means that the total number of outlets there now comes to eleven. In Estonia there are four K-rauta stores, and in Latvia one location. Since 13 March 2003 Kesko has had a majority stake in the Lithuanian company Senuku Prekybos, which consists of ten Senukai outlets and 50 partner stores. The rate of increase on a comparable basis is around 40 per cent.
