At the end of May Rona brought its new distribution centre for western Canada into operation in Calgary. It is located on a 90 000 m² site and covers an area of around 30 000 m², with room for 24 410 pallet locations. It offers the capacity to expand to 40 000 m² in the future. Supplies go out to 51 stores from this centre, including eleven big-box DIY outlets. Rona sees the opening of the distribution centre as one component of its expansionary strategy in western Canada, where the company will be spending Can $ 200 mio (€ 120 mio) within the space of 30 months. Following the opening of a big-box DIY store in Edmonton, it is planned to open another outlet of this size in Regina during the summer.
