No cloud on growth horizon

Market researchers Verdict estimate the 2004 garden market in Britain at a volume of approximately £ 3.778 bn (€ 5.673 bn). That would be an increase of 6.0 per cent in a comparison with last year, when the market was assessed at around £ 3.564 bn (€ 5.351 bn). Growth was still 5.2 per cent in the year 2003. The market researchers have based their figures on largely constant rates of growth over the next few years. After an increase of 6.1 per cent next year they are reckoning with growth of 6.3 per cent annually until 2008. This scenario sees the garden market in the United Kingdom then achieving a volume of £ 4.814 bn (€ 7.228 bn). These figures were published in Focus Wickes Gardening Monitor.
