Home Depot is testing a new DIY store format designed to appeal more to women

Home Depot is testing a new format which the company hopes will put an end to the warehouse image that women find intimidating. The new concept is called Home Depot Design Centers and is a mixture between the Home Depot DIY store and the Expo Design Center format. More luxurious kitchen and bathroom displays are taking the place of building materials and timber, there is more space for organiser systems, and a totally new display system for doors and windows has been created. The first such stores, which will be around 8 500 m² in size, are expected to open this month already in Charlotte, North Carolina, and Concord, California,.
