Karl-Heinz Dähne, founder and general partner of Dähne Verlag GmbH, Ettlingen, passed away at the age of 86. Karl-Heinz Dähne succeeded in developing the publishing house, which was founded in 1970, into one of Germany's leading specialist publishers in the DIY, wood and pet industries.
Born in Weißenfels, Karl-Heinz Dähne became self-employed in 1970 and founded the publishing house, which was named after himself and which soon began specialising in trade publications and branch directories in the early days of the DIY market. In 1977 two objects were initiated, the Dähne Informationsdienst and the DIY-Branchenreport, forerunners of today's diy Fachmagazin, which were both to develop into leading media in the handyman industry. With the publication of the pet Fachmagazin in 1983, the publisher also entered into the pet industry which was just beginning to develop. Further specialist journals such as DIY International, PET worldwide and Holzforum as well as many national and international address directories were to follow.
Since 1992 Dähne Verlag has also been publishing books, mainly in the field of aquaristics. Since 1993 the publishing house has also been active in the field of special interests. From 1996 Karl-Heinz Dähne pioneered in the development of the first Internet portal for the DIY, wood and pet industry. All these Internet platforms developed into indispensable electronic media with strong current relevance.
In 2000 Karl-Heinz Dähne stepped back from the operative leadership of the publishing house and placed the management of the company into the hands of his sons Marc and Gernot. In the DIY, wood and pet industry Karl-Heinz Dähne has gained an excellent reputation as competent and constantly committed publisher.Karl-Heinz Dähne will be sadly missed by all employees at Dähne Verlag and their thoughts go out to his wife, his two sons and the whole of his family.
