The German Hornbach group also generated its growth in financial year 2016/2017 (ending 28 February 2017) in particular from abroad. While the 98 domestic stores increased their sales compared to the previous year by 1.5 per cent to € 2.040 bn (like-for-like: plus 1.4 per cent), the growth rate abroad amounted to 9.6 per cent. Together, the 57 locations in eight European countries made sales of € 1.670 bn. Like-for-like sales net of currency effects grew by 5.1 per cent. Thus, the foreign share of sales increased from 43.1 per cent to 45.0 per cent. In total all 155 (previous year: 153) of Hornbach's DIY stores with garden centres made sales of € 3.710 bn, which is 5.0 per cent more than in the previous year. The like-for-like increase net of currency effects amounted to 3.0 per cent.
