The China International Hardware Show (CIHS) has been brought forward at short notice by almost two weeks and has also been given a different sequence of days. The trade fair will take place from 10 to 12 October 2018 - i.e. Thursday to Friday - in the National Exhibition and Convention Center Shanghai and not as planned from 22 to 24 October (Monday to Wednesday). The reason is that the first China International Import Expo (CIIE) is being held in Shanghai at the start of November. Thus, the change of date has a political background, as the press report from the organisers of the CIHS, Koelnmesse and the China International Hardware Association (CNHA), specifically refers to the strategy of the Central Committee and the State Council into which this event is evidently incorporated. CNHA President Shi Senglan, is quoted as commenting that the CIIE is "unconditionally" supported. She states that the new CIHS date still falls within the industry's best purchasing cycle.
The China International Hardware Show is said to be the world's second largest trade fair in the industry after the Hardware Fair in Cologne. The organisers are expecting more than 3 000 exhibitors, who will occupy more than 150 000 m², and more than 50 000 visitors. According to this information, Germany, Taiwan and India will be the countries who, other than China, will be most strongly represented, whereby Indian companies have booked in total more than double the space than in the previous year. Great Britain and Switzerland will be represented for the first time.
