Leroy Merlin to operate in four formats in Spain

Leroy Merlin will operate under four formats in Spain in future. In addition to the typical big box stores covering around 11 000 m², there will be three other store sizes: Leroy Merlin Urban is a concept for stores in city centre locations with a retail area of up to 2 000 m², while Leroy Merlin Compact envisages a store size of 2 000 to 4 000 m². Leroy Merlin Project stores form the fourth format and will specialise in major home improvement projects. The range of goods in all four formats is based on the common overall assortment offered by Leroy Merlin. Customers are to be offered a uniform omnichannel experience regardless of the format.
The background to this multi-format model is the merger between the two distribution lines Leroy Merlin and Akí, which both belong to the French Groupe Adeo organisation. The two brands will be combined on 1 January 2019.
