Home improvement stores and garden centres in Austria are expected to be allowed to reopen on 14 April, the Tuesday after Easter, along with small stores of up to 400 m² in retail area. This was the target set by Austrian Chancellor Sebastian Kurz at a press conference. A condition of reopening will be strict safety precautions such as the wearing of face masks, disinfection and a limited number of customers per store. All stores in Austria may then be permitted to reopen on 1 May, with restaurants and hotels following in stages from mid-May at the earliest.
