Chilean trading group Cencosud increased its home improvement sales by 16.9 per cent to CLP 452.253 billion (approximately EUR 520 million) at the end of Q4 2021. Compared with Q4 2019, the growth was 78.8 per cent, the company said in a statement. The e-commerce share was 8.5 per cent.
In Chile, home improvement sales were CLP 244.585 billion, up 4.8 per cent year-on-year and 66.2 per cent on 2019, while in Argentina, sales increased by 18.2 per cent to CLP 184.501 billion. This was an increase of 29.0 per cent compared with Q4 2019. In Colombia, sales increased to CLP 23.166 billion, up by 7.5 per cent compared with the end of Q4 2020 and 13.7 per cent compared with 2019.
The group operates supermarkets, department stores and convenience and electronics shops in Chile, Argentina, Brazil, Peru and Colombia, in addition to DIY stores. Home improvement stores are operated in Chile (37 stores), Argentina (55 stores) and Colombia (16 stores).
