The German DIY store operator Bauhaus has opened its third location in Madrid. The new store is located in Leganés, in the southern part of the Spanish capital. It is the twelfth Bauhaus branch in Spain.
The new Bauhaus store offers a 7 800 m² sales area for all DIY, renovation and decoration jobs. The garden department covers 2 200 m². In addition, a 2 400 m² drive-in arena offers the opportunity to buy large bulky products and load them directly from the shelf into the car.
Certified construction
As in Germany, the new branch in Madrid focuses on sustainability, the company emphasises. The building was certified in accordance with the Building Research Establishment Environmental Assessment Methodology, or BREEAM1 for short. A total of 665 photovoltaic modules with a peak output of 330 kWp were installed and a rainwater cistern with a capacity of 12 000 litres was installed to store rainwater from the roof. The store was also fitted with energy-saving LED lamps.
