Kingfisher maintains total sales and is well ahead of 2019

Kingfisher reports third-quarter sales (three months ending 31 October 2022) of GBP 3.263 bn (EUR 3.797 billion). This equates to an increase of 0.6 per cent on the same period last year. In constant currency, sales grew by 1.7 per cent, and by 0.2 per cent in like-for-like terms. Compared with the (pre-pandemic) level of three years ago, adjusted sales grew by 15.3 per cent.

The results in the individual countries and sales divisions are quite different. The main British sales division B&Q, for example, posted an adjusted turnover of 3.5 per cent compared with the same quarter last year, while the Screwfix sales division, which is used to success, posted an adjusted minus of 0.5 per cent despite nominal growth of 4.8 per cent.

In France, sales were down by 1.2 per cent, but the group achieved an increase of 0.5 per cent adjusted for currency and retail area.

Among the other countries, Poland stood out with an adjusted sales increase of 7.6 per cent. Spain and Portugal (plus 3.4 per cent) and Romania (plus

4.2 per cent) also saw clear sales gains. In his commentary on the quarterly figures, CEO Thierry Garnier speaks of "continued market share growth, including strong gains at Screwfix, TradePoint and Castorama Poland".
